Onyeka Nwelue
Born in 1988 in Nigeria to Igbo parents, Onyeka Nwelue is a poet, columnist, children's rights activist, travel-writer, singer and atheist. After graduating from High School at 17, he travelled extensively to Asia, particularly to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Nepal. Between 2005 and 2007, Nwelue attended international conferences and festivals both within and without Nigeria, including the 2nd International Writers' Festival in India.
In 2004, he was described in the Guardian as 'a teenager with steaming pen'. His prize-winning works have appeared in the Wild Goose Poetry Review (US), Litbit Magazine (Canada), Kafla Inter-Continental (India) and the Guardian (Nigeria). He is a student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The Abyssinian Boy is his first novel. |
